Tours are an excellent, stress free, although sometimes expensive, way to visit the attractions and activities that the Riviera Maya and it’s surrounding regions have to offer. They are hassle free and many will pick you up and drop you off at your doorstep, with you safe in the knowledge that everything is taken care of; most of them even include lunch. All you need to do is pick which one you want to go on and which company to go with; that’s your choice!
Tours can be a very good way to visit some of the attractions that lie outside of the area; especially if you’re not willing to hire a car or use the public transport system. There are many tour companies in the Riviera Maya, most of them operating out of Playa Del Carmen. If you walk down Quinta Avenida you will be approached by a multitude of tour guides, mostly they offer the same itineraries, to the same places, for similar prices; but do shop around as it is the fine details that change between operators.
Below is a list of the places that are regularly visited to by the tours, and some of the notable ones too. Most tours will do two, sometimes three things in one day, for example: a morning trip to an archeological site, then the rest of the day at a cenote or adventure park. The links below lead to our activities pages that give a description of the places and other necessary details for a trip there:
